Prior Administrator’s Welcome Message
Dear Friends in Christ Jesus, our Blessed Mother, and Saint Benedict,
Welcome to the renewed website of Mary Mother of the Church Abbey! We are glad you have visited our website to discover the latest happenings in our part of the Benedictine world.
In the age-old tradition of Benedictine monasticism, it has been the practice of monks through the ages to join together as a regular, disciplined community of prayer who first places the Opus Dei, or Work of God, at the forefront and root of all apostolic work it carries out, “so that in all things God may be glorified” (Ut in omnibus glorificetur Dei, from the Rule of Saint Benedict 57:9, referencing 1 Peter). We see our vocational calling to live and serve God as His contemplatives in action, seeking God first above all things in our own lives, and then carrying out our ministry to the people of the local particular and universal Church as the Holy Spirit guides our community.
Our tradition of apostolic service in central Virginia to the People of God spans nearly 100 years, through our educational ministry at Benedictine High School, the Abbey Retreat Center and Gift Shop, parishes, pastoral assistance to local convents of religious sisters and Saint Joseph’s Home for the Aged of the Little Sisters of the Poor, military chaplaincies, catechetical outreach, and vibrant Oblate program.
In all of these efforts, we endeavor always to reflect the eternal love and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ through the actions and words spoken in our monastic lives. We invite you to explore our latest work on this website and to visit us often both online and in person. We would love to have the graced opportunity to provide you with Benedictine hospitality that embodies the Southern charm for which Virginia is famous, ever seeking to receive you lovingly as Christ Himself (Rule of Saint Benedict 53:1).
May God bless you superabundantly with His Love and Peace +
Very Rev. Gregory Gresko, O.S.B., S.T.L.

Nice content, hope others enjoyed the post as well.
Thank you for publishing about this. There’s a mass of great tech info on the internet. You’ve got a lot of that info here on your web site. I’m impressed – I try to keep a couple blogs fairly ongoing, but it’s a struggle sometimes. You’ve done a great job with this one. How do you do it?
Greetings, Brothers! Peace!
Just “surfed” across your website to check it out after your confrere’s appearance on EWTN. (An excellent appearance in every regard.) Thank you all for the lived witness of your lives! God’s blessings! Num 6: 24-26! David
