The monks reach out to those in need in the spirit of Christ’s call to serve the poor. Support to the poor in Africa through a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, Uganda Rural Fund, founded by Br. John Mary Lugemwa, OSB. The Uganda Rural Fund (URF)’s mission is to empower AIDS orphans, underprivileged youth and women in rural communities of Uganda, through educational and sustainable development opportunities.

URF’s service programs include: an orphanage, a vocational secondary school, after school programs, child sponsorships, women empowerment, community seminars, adult literacy, food security, micro finance and small business skills training.
